HUNGARY

MENEDEK

What’s it all about?

A group of Christian people in Hungary serving God, being SALT and LIGHT in the Community in which they live.

Nearly 25 years ago, just after the collapse of Communism in Hungary, a group of young Christians answered a clear calling from God - a calling that would see them give up their jobs, move house to the village of Bodrog in the far west of Hungary, and embark on a life changing journey. This journey would see the foundation of a church that was to be an integral part of the community. Also, the foundation of a school that would provide an education for all who would come through its doors and show people the true meaning of LOVE in ACTION as they proclaimed the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST.

More importantly, these Christians, as parents, commenced a ministry of the adoption of children who had been left in state care.  Children abandoned at birth by their parents, children from “troubled” homes.
They created a REFUGE for them (MENEDEK) and gave them a stable family life in Christian homes, safe from the lives they had left behind.
Bloomfield had been aware of this ministry for some time and it was in 2005 that God gave us a clear calling to reach out to our brothers and sisters in Bodrog in a more meaningful way.
In the past 5 years teams from both churches have made the journey across Europe visiting each other and engaging in various church initiatives. A new church and school have been built in Bodrog and it has been a privilege for the Bloomfield folks to have played a small part in the construction of these. Childrens Bible and English clubs have also taken place both in Bodrog and Bloomfield with both churches helping each other.

This partnership has been a blessing from God and it is our hope and prayer that it continues for a long time. The relationship we share can best be described in the Bible,
2 Corinthians Ch8, v 10-15.

May God continue to be glorified in Hungary and Belfast with this work of Love in Action.
