“Do not fret because of evil men, for like grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.”
– Psalm 37 v1

In the week of ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests throughout the world and the memorial service of George Floyd following his tragic death in Minneapolis, we had the surreal photo stunt by President Trump outside a church, peculiarly holding a Bible.

James Cordon, writer and television host introduced the public to his dad, who it turns out knows quite a bit about how to correctly handle the Bible. Not as a weapon but as God’s Word. A double edged sword which must never be used to ‘justify me and my words’ but which challenges society and reshapes individuals after the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dr David Bruce, the new Moderator of the General Assembly was asked what would have been a better way for President Trump to handle the Bible.
“With it open, and engaged in humble study of the text with those with whom he disagreed”.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him”.
– Psalm 37 v7
