Who are the Junior Section?
The Junior Section is for boys in P5-P7 (ages 9-11)
What do they do?
Juniors have fun! Junior Section is about having fun, making friends, enjoying lots of activities and trying new things.
On a Monday evening the boys take part in a programme made up of a variety of activities, which include games, sporting activities, craft, quizzes, cookery, marching/drill and bible time, and many of these activities contribute towards their award badges which are presented at the annual inspection around Easter time.
Juniors also get to:
- go on outings such as to 10 Pin Bowling, the cinema, etc,
- take part in South & East Belfast Group and Belfast Battalion competitions such as potted sports, five aside football, orienteering, mini cross country, quizzes, public speaking, swimming and music
- help raise money for nominated charities
Through the many different activities it is hoped they will:
- learn about themselves
- get to know people and learn to work together
- explore their community
- personally develop
Anchor Boys’ Programme
The awards involve completion of various achievements/activities as part – this includes spiritual and social input, as well as physical and adventure activities in 5 different programme zones.
Body – fit for fun
Mind – think and do
Spirit – God and me
Community – me and my world
Creativity – make and do
Juniors will also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. As well as possibly going on a weekend camp or holiday that is often the highlight of the year.

Target Award Badge (Boys in their first session)
Bronze Award Badge (1st Year Boys)
Silver Award Badge (2nd Year Boys)
Gold Award Badge (3rd Year Boys)
