The Psalmist encourages us to sing new songs of worship.
“Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous things.
The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations”
– Psalm 98
Jonathan Rea, known to many as leader of New Irish Arts has done much to help people praise God during lockdown and to encourage believers to do precisely what scripture commands; to sing fresh hymns of praise, because although God never changes, through the Holy Spirit, our relationship with Him is ever new.
During his Hymntime programme on Sunday evenings Jonathan encouraged people to put pen to paper and write a song.
39 original new songs were received and Jonathan composed a tune for the top entrants. And the runner up was……?
Well, someone we are very proud of in Bloomfield and whose hymn I think you will agree is just super, reminding us of the enduring faithfulness of the Lord.
“When I look up to the Heavens, with the starry skies above
I turn my eyes to look to You, the creator of all things”.
Listen, praise God and enjoy! And maybe this new song “Your Faithfulness Endures” created out of lockdown by one of our own congregation will become an enduring Bloomfield favourite?
With kindest best good wishes
