Dear friends,
With returning back to live worship morning and evening (albeit still socially distanced) we have a number of very important services eagerly anticipated.
This Sunday evening 7pm 25th April will be the ordination and installation service for our 10 new elders. This will be conducted by a Commission of the East Belfast Presbytery, preacher Rev David Moore of Knock. Please uphold David Bell, James Cousley, Kenny Chambers, James Gordon, Sharon Groves, Mark Harbinson, Peter Huey, Colin Maguire, James McClure and Michael Stoneman and their families in your prayers at this important juncture of their lives and that of our congregation.
On Sunday 9th May, 11am and 7pm we will celebrate the official opening of our new church halls, with special guest The Moderator of the General Assembly Rt. Rev. Dr. David Bruce. This day has been long anticipated, but we do look forward to giving thanks to God for his great favour and faithfulness to us through this wonderful project, finished before schedule and on budget. While we would dearly have liked there to have been a community aspect to this celebration, or at least some hospitality, we are nonetheless glad to have this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to The Lord. Because we would like as many people as possible to attend, we would ask you please to book your place for either morning or evening service. While they will not be identical, each service will include similar elements and both am and pm will be Livestreamed. There will be opportunity for any who would like to, to contribute to the redevelopment fund through a retiring offering as an expression of thanksgiving. (Out of £2m total project, our remaining goal is £450,000)
Then on Sunday 16th May, 11am and 7pm we hope to celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as part of each service. At the morning, this will take place after the concluding praise and will not be part of the earlier Livestreaming. At the evening, Communion will be an integral part of the service, none of which will be Livestreamed. Both morning and evening we use specially designed elements in sealed capsule. Again, please secure your place for either service by phoning in or e mailing via the church web site. Thankyou!
In January, we featured a new hymn written by Karen Jardine set to music by Jonathan Rea called ‘Your faithfulness endures’. Surely at this time of rejoicing, that is our collective affirmation.
Most Sincerely,
Frank
